Happy Xmas and all the best for 2010 from Dirk, Anke, Fiona and Yannick Sean from Duisburg/Germany. We keep the fingers crossed for Celtic. And we are still under shock after Thierry Henrys handball. We would have deserved to play at the World Cup!
Take care

Warm up the hot wiskey, the Boyles are comming.Three generations of Boyles will in your area Sunday, June 8th through Wednesday, June 11th to join the manny manny other Boyles already there. It definately looks like Sharkey's Bar will be a terrific place to visit.
Inn pursuit of our blood line, we've been able to trace my Grandmothers roots back to Rinnifarset. She was born there June 1870, the daughter of Ned Ferry and Anna Sharkay (spelled with an A, according to her birth certificate). We believe that my Grandfather, James Andrew Boyle was possiblly from Annagry. in any case, James was born April 1863 and immagrated to the US in 1885. We are still trying to establish details on his side of the family.
So if any of you Boyles can help make an connection, any information would be appreciated. Simply shoot an e-mail. Otherwise, see you when we bend an elbow at Sharkey's Bar.

During the 1970s, I was road manager with pop group The rubbettes at the height of their fame.
Anyway to get away from the turmoil after finishing a uk tour, we thought it would be agood idea to have a fortnight touring Donegol
When we passed through Annagry we stopped at Sharkeys bar for a beer, we liked the place so much that we stayed in Annagry for 8 days, cant remmemger the name of the hotel we stayed in
on our last night The rubbettes put on an impromto concert as a thank you for the kindness and hospitality we were shown by the staff and customers of sharkeys
everybody from the village crammed into the bar, it was amazing
Alan williams the lead singer is about to write his autobiography and i can tell you that a very interesting story will be unveiled regarding sharkeys bar
believe me its unbelievable but it really happened, Ill pass it on oncehte book is launched early december 2008
all the best with the bar, it seems to have lost none of its charm wit and friendlyness

hello there, I'm michael (mick) sharkey, patrick's son, formerly of ayrshire, scotland but currently living in boston, lincolnshire. My grandmother was Agnes (nee Duffy) who lived in the bungalow up the road until she died in 1978. I believe dad's brother Tony currently lives in that house. I've been in Sharkey's bar once in my life, in August 1971 and it's always been my wish to go back. One of these days.... Looks a great place. Hope all are well. Look forward to meeting you all one day.
Cheers, Mick Sharkey

Hi
A cousin of my husband has been trying to trace her family and appears to have hit a dead end. Her Grandfather was Daniel Sharkey, a miner from County Donegal. He migrated to Australia on the "Annie H Smith" arriving in Australia 12/07/1877 at the age of 25. His parents were James & Grace Sharkey who remained in County Donegal. Any assistance would be of help. My husband Daniel and I are travelling to Donegal in July with my cousin Linda travelling to Ireland in October on a fact finding mission.

I am looking for my ancestors from Donnegal, Ireland. My grandfather's name was John Sharkey. He was born in 1882, Donnegal, Ireland. He came to America in 1904 on the S.S. Columbia. He left from the port of Londonderry. He was an accomplished poet. I have his original quill ink writings.
He had a sister who was a nun, her name was Rose Marie. I believe that his father's name was Peter and his mother's name was Anne. Although I cannot be 100% positive. I am just sure about the sister. He had many brothers and sisters, but I do not know all the names. He came to the USA to stay with an Aunt Hannah Sharkey who too came from Ireland. If you beleve that you may know of my ancestors or have any information that may link me to you I would be most thankful.

Hello folks:
Is smoking banned now in Ireland like it is all over Florida, USA?
Please visit our website, www.floridasmokersrights.com for up dates on how to try to get our rights back.
I have always wanted to see your beautiful country, but I will not spend my tourist dollars if I cannot enjoy my whiskey with a smoke inside the pub.
Please tell me how you feel about all this. Our website welcomes you, especially if you are a smoker wishing to visit the USA.
Thank you

I came across your website and it stirred some great memories of a holiday I had in Annagry back in the late sixties, and I remembered your pub very well indeed. It is so modern now, for I recall the bar was very plain then (for the men).
One incident I remember was coming in to the bar with my freinds and we sat down next to a group of old timers who were speaking Irish. When it was clear we intended to stay drinking for a while they started speaking to each other in English. Before long we were chatting to them and we asked why they had changed langauge. They said it was so we knew they weren't speaking about us 'behind our backs'. I still don't know whether they were winding us up or not; they probably were.
One thing about your photo of the pub - did there not used to be a shop there too run by the family, which sold newspapers and all sorts of other things? I am sure there was one connected to the pub.
May I just say that you Irish put we Scots to shame with your use of the internet - everything in Ireland seems to have a modern website. We'll need to do some catching up!

Hope you are all doing well there.
Was doing a bit of 'surfing' and came across your site.
I have to say you picked two fine looking models for your picture of the lounge. Not what I am used to viewing on here at all!!!
Say hello to 'Big' Frank and Robert for me when they next come in. I dont imagine that will be too long away.
Eddie and Bella are here in the Isle of Man just now and want to say hello to everyone.
All the best and Hail Hail
'Wee' Frank Duffy
